Our Mission

Learn Kurdish is an educational platform built to protect and celebrate the Kurdish language, culture, and history. We have developed AI-powered tools and trained language models that are safe, culturally adapted, and specifically designed for Kurdish language education. We are committed to continuing this mission for Kurdish communities across Kurdistan and the diaspora worldwide.

Information We Collect

When you use Learn Kurdish, we may collect:

• Account information — email address, display name, and profile photo (if you sign in with Google or Apple).
• Learning activity — lessons completed, quiz scores, game results, streaks, and XP earned. This data powers your progress tracking and personalized learning experience.
• AI conversation data — when available, text and voice interactions with our AI tutor are temporarily stored for safety monitoring and quality improvement. Conversation data is automatically deleted after 30 days.
• Technical data — device type, browser, and general usage patterns to improve app performance. We do not track your precise location.

How We Use Your Data

• Ensure safety in AI-powered conversations
• Send important account and product updates (no spam, ever)
• Detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized access

Data Security

Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers located in the United States, using industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit (TLS 1.3 / AES-256). We use Supabase as our database provider, which implements enterprise-grade security practices including row-level security, automated backups, and SOC 2 Type II compliance.

We follow industry best practices for protecting user data, including secure authentication (OAuth 2.0), server-side validation of all user actions, and regular security reviews.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Your learning data belongs to you.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting
• Vercel — application hosting and deployment
• Google / Apple — optional sign-in providers (we receive only your name, email, and profile photo)

Each provider operates under their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary for these services to function.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information in your profile
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Export your learning progress data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@learnkurdish.app. We will process your request within 30 days. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will permanently remove your data from our servers.

Children's Privacy

Learn Kurdish is designed to be used by learners of all ages, including children. For users under 13, we recommend that a parent or guardian create and manage the account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy as our platform evolves. When we make significant changes, we will notify users via email or an in-app notification. Continued use of Learn Kurdish after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
